  14. Could someone please tell me what they think would be a
  15. good CPS rate for a 14.4 V.42 connection.  From the math
  16. it sounds like:

  18. (14,400 / 8) = 1800 CPS (raw w/no compression)

  20. I would expect you could do better depending on the
  21. compressibility of the data.  I also expect that there's
  22. some overhead for ECC.  I've been doing downloads lately
  23. and have been getting anywhere from 1000 to 2300 CPS.
  24. Sounds to me like the 2300 CPS figure was for pretty
  25. compressible data, but the 1000 CPS figures seem kind of
  26. low.
